- Washington, D.C. (AHN) - President George Bush on Friday defended the U.S.'s detention and interrogation policies and refuted reports that the administration had approved the use of torture against suspected terrorists.
Allaying criticism after the disclosure of a secret memo allegedly authorizing interrogators to use harsher tactics against their subjects, Bush said that the administration adheres to U.S. law and international standards.
"This government does not torture people," he said in a brief statement at the Oval Office, adding that programs in U.S. secret prisons overseas were aimed at protecting the American people.
"When we find somebody who may have information regarding a potential attack on America, you bet we're going to detain them and you bet we're going to question them, because the American people expect us to find out information, actionable intelligence, so we can help them - help protect them," Bush said, adding that details of interrogation practices had already been provided to members of Congress.
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7008740145 I'll make this brief: I know he's lying his ass off because he and the government have been lying about everything for the last 6 or 7 years. Of course we torture people. Not to mention that torture by us is highly illegal.

But if it's in the Constitution Bushie will just pass a law to let him go through with it. He doesn't care about it being illegal. | |

| From what my granddad has told me, torturing victims isn't as reliable as some make it out to be. He was in Vietnam and he heard stories from some of his war pals. | |

| A lot of people say torture is very effective in getting information out of people but I say there's other ways to get things out and having to drown or mutilate somebody is not one of them. | |

| The reason why I think torture doesn't work, aside from all the constant pain is because the victims will say anything just to get you stop and sometimes it might be the most outlandish things they say. | |
