Radical Islam is the main reason we're still overseas fighting terrorists at the moment. Why does it exist? What quest are the supporters of Radical Islam trying to fulfill?

I'm no expert on religions but my guess is that Radical Islam wants everyone in the world to be like them. Otherwise, why are they still at war with Israel?
