What nation(s) do you think were the most powerful ones in all of history? It's only critical thinking and I'd make sure you base your answer on political, social, economic and military influences.

Not counting the US, I would have to say the UK, Persia, Mongolia, Rome, and Greece.

In terms of sheer military power I would have to say either the Romans or the Mongols because both of them used that power to conquer huge regions of the eastern hemisphere.

I will agree with the Mongols. Yes, it was broken up, but Tamberlane reunited it and made it grow, socially, militarily, culturally.
