Doubts planted, now the harvest Empty

KEVIN Rudd has a battle plan to become prime minister of Australia and he reckons at least half the battle is won. It's impossible for the Opposition Leader not to feel more confident with each passing day and opinion poll.

His demeanour and attitude exude a determined confidence that has replaced the exuberance and wild expectations that ruled after he took the biggest risk of his political life last December.

Only seven months since becoming Labor leader and with an election due in the next few months, Rudd is in an extraordinary position. He has the 11-year-old Howard Government on the ropes in the polls, he has had a more sustained lead over John Howard than any Opposition leader in that time and his media strategy has kept Labor's momentum alive.

In a short time Rudd has had to craft a non-threatening image of himself, restore Labor confidence, revive the sense of electoral competition, turn a golden economic period against the Government, garner disparate dissatisfied forces, create a negative climate for the Coalition and offer a positive alternative.

I don't know much about Australian government but I think this Howard dude needs to get out. I like the new guy coming up in his place better though.
